Employee Happiness Model: 15 factors of Employee Engagement and Happiness

Engaged and happy employees are a golden formula for a successful organization. But how do you ensure that employees are and remain involved and happy? In collaboration with Utrecht University, we have developed the Employee Happiness Model.

In these uncertain times, the factors that influence employee happiness and engagement are changing. That is why 2DAYSMOOD and Empatix conducted research and developed the free Remote Experience Monitor. It allows organizations to continuously measure how (remote) workers are doing and which factors determine their well-being.

Why the Employee Happiness Model?

Many organizations wonder: how do we create a corporate culture in which happy and committed employees can thrive? What should have your attention as a CEO, HR manager or team leader, to achieve the highest level of employee engagement?

To help answer these questions, 2DAYSMOOD, together with Utrecht University, has conducted research into the universal factors that contribute to employee engagement and work happiness. The result is the Employee Happiness Model (EHM) that consists of 15 measurable drivers. This model is integrated into our unique measuring method of happiness at work and helps organizations to create a happy organization.

15 Drivers of Employee Engagement

  ORGANIZATION

1. Internal Communication
2. Visions and Values
3. Strategy and Goals
4. Reputation and Brand

 PEOPLE

5. Leadership
6. Relation with Colleagues
7. Relation with Manager
8. Social Values

  JOB

9. Salary and Benefits
10. Appreciation
11. Training and Developing
12. Intrinsic Motivation

 WELLBEING

13. Work Conditions
14. Vitality
15. Work-Life balance

How can you apply the model?

The 15 drivers in the EHM are measurable variables that have a positive or negative impact on the happiness of employees within an organization. In your own organization or team, you can check how these themes are doing by using the model as a guideline. Important to remember here: apply different conditions and motivations for each type of employee.

To translate your commitment to a positive organizational culture directly into a data-driven action plan, it is useful to make these variables transparent at all times. Our realtime measurement method and 15-second survey help you with this at the organization, department, and team level.

Continuous insight in employee happiness?

This is possible with our super fast online survey, weekly reports, and realtime analysis dashboards. You can create your desired feedback loop at team, department and organization level.

What else can you do with 2DAYSMOOD? Think of monitoring stress levels, measuring employee engagement, calculating the employee Net Promoter Score, measuring vitality, and stimulating work happiness through e-learning. We are happy to show you all the options!
